Career Center Library Resources

The Career Center's resource library contains a myriad of information about hundreds of career-related topics including choosing a major, internships, resume writing, job market of the future, international jobs, interviewing, job search, and employers. Otterbein students and alumni may check out most books for a period of one week.

Additionally, there are several handbooks covering such topics as resume writing, cover letters, looking for a job, and applying to graduate school that are yours to keep. You will enjoy browsing through a number of other free publications to add to your career information files.

The Cardinal Network
Talking to a professional is probably the best way to find out what a job is really like. If you would like to talk to an Otterbein alum who works in a field you are interested in and has volunteered to serve as a career consultant, the Cardinal Network is your best resource. You can access the Cardinal Network file in the Career Center.

The Adams Job Interview Pro
This CD Rom provides both video and audio responses to give you the feel of being at a real job interview. It provides over 300 of the most-often-asked questions, along with expert advice on how to respond, with sample answers. You can also watch complete job interviews in the following fields: Accounting, Banking, Communications/Media, Consulting, Finance, Management, Retail, Sales, and Software Engineering.

There are also eleven quick multimedia workshops that give authoritative advice on such topics as how to land interviews, interview preparation, handling phone interviews, multiple interview strategies, how to stand out from the crowd, interview dress, responding to stress questions, illegal questions, and salary negotiation. Once you feel comfortable, you can test your knowledge by taking the job interview quiz.
