Folusa is a good source for finding out more information about maintaining or starting a Friends group. It recently merged with the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA) to become the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF).

The American Library Association is a member organization for individuals interested in or employed in libraries. They provide publications, workshops, conferences, information, and assistance to libraries and their employees.

The American Booksellers Association is a "not-for-profit trade association representing independent bookstores nationwide." Their web site offers headline news, products, professional development, events, etc.
