Academic Search Complete -EBSCO Mobile indexes articles from many disciplines,including literary criticism and book reviews. This general resource indexes over 4300 periodicals and contains full text for over 3400 scholarly publications.

 

African-American Poetry 1760 - 1900 - full text of 3000 poems written by African-American poets in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The database includes allegories, broadsides, children's poems, elegiac poems, epics, hymns, odes, patriotic poems, and sonnets. The poets are among those included in the William French et al. bibliography, Afro-American Poetry and Drama, 1760-1975.

 

American Drama - 700 plays from over 300 dramatists.

 

American Poetry 1600 - 1900 - a collection of 1,200 books and anthologies of early American poetry. This database contains the works of all major American poets, including Emily Dickinson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Phillis Wheatley, Walt Whitman, and John Greenleaf Whittier. It also covers many less familiar names.

 

American Periodicals Series 1740 - 1900 - A collection of digitized images of the pages of American magazines and journals that originated between 1741, when Andrew Bradford's American Magazine and Benjamin Franklin's General Magazine were launched, and 1900. It contains about 1,100 periodicals spanning nearly 200 years -- from colonial times to the advent of American involvement in World War II. Titles range from America's first scientific journal, Medical Repository, to popular magazines like Vanity Fair and Ladies' Home Journal.

 

Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature 1920-1997 - ABELL lists monographs, periodical articles, critical editions of literary works, book reviews, collections of essays and doctoral dissertations published anywhere in the world. It has been printed since 1921 and is compiled under the direction of the Modern Humanities Research Association (MHRA).

 

Article First 1990 + - an index of the tables of contents of 12,000 magazines & journals.

 

Arts and Humanities Citation Search - a multidisciplinary database part of the ISI Web of Science covering the journal literature of the arts and humanities. It indexes 1,144 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals and allows you to search for the articles that cite a known author or work.

The Bible in English  - contains twenty-one versions of the Bible: thirteen complete Bibles, five editions of the New Testament, two editions of the Gospels, and William Tynsdale’s translations of the New Testament, Pentateuch, and Jonah. The editions were chosen specifically to meet the needs of scholars of English literature and history of the language, as well as those in biblical and theological studies. Protestant, Roman Catholic, and nonconformist editions of the Bible are all included to allow searching and comparison across different centuries and religious beliefs.

 

The Bibliography of American Literature - The BAL originally appeared in print in nine volumes, to provide a bibliographic guide, providing nearly 40,000 records of the literary works of approximately 300 American writers from the American Revolution to 1930. BAL lists every reprint and variant edition of an author's works, including obscure and fugitive appearances in anthologies, broadsides, and gift books. It also includes details on bindings and physical features of the editions. The BAL originally was published between 1955 and 1991; the print edition is available on the 3rd floor of the library (Z1225 .B55.)

Early American Fiction - 440 works of 80 novelists and short-story writers, 1774-1850.

 

Editions and Adaptations of Shakespeare - includes the complete text of eleven major editions of Shakespeare's works, from the First Folio (1623) to the Cambridge edition of 1863-6. It also includes twenty-four separate contemporary printings of individual plays, selected apocrypha and related works, and more than 100 adaptations, sequels, and burlesques from the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries.

 

Eighteenth Century Fiction - the text of 96 works of English prose from the period 1700-1780, by writers from the British Isles.

Electronic Reference Books - Folklore, Mythology, Literature from OhioLINK ABC-CLIO

 

English Prose Drama - The text of 1,800 plays listed in the New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature that were written or intended for the stage and wholly or primarily in prose by approximately 400 authors from the Renaissance to the end of the nineteenth century.

 

English Verse Drama - Texts of 2200+ English verse drama plays from the 13th to the 19th Century.

Gender Studies Database - EBSCO MobileGender Studies Database produced by NISC, combines NISC’s popular Women’s Studies International and Men’s Studies databases with the coverage of sexual diversity issues. GSD covers the full spectrum of gender-engaged scholarship inside and outside academia. Several thousand links to freely available and indexed full-text articles and documents on the Web are available. Source documents include professional journals, conference papers, books, book chapters, government reports, discussion and working papers, theses & dissertations and other sources. Several hundred links provide access to carefully selected and important websites. This database includes more than 696,750 records with coverage spanning from 1972 and earlier to present.

 

Humanities International Complete - provides full text of hundreds of journals, books and other published sources from around the world. Produced by Whitston Publishing (an imprint of EBSCO Publishing), this database includes all data from Humanities International Index (over 1.6 million records) plus unique full text content, much of which is not found in other databases.

 

Iter Gateway to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance - an online bibliography of more than 600,000 records of books, articles, essays and book reviews about the literature, history and culture of the years 400 - 1700.

 

International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text -EBSCO Mobile an index to journal articles, books, essays and dissertation abstracts on all aspects of theatre and performance created by the Theatre Research Data Center (TRDC) at Brooklyn College in 1984.
