Helping Students Learn

Do your students struggle with research papers? Can they locate appropriate materials for assignments? Do they know what to do once they have found the information?
 
Librarians and faculty working collaboratively can make a tremendous difference in student learning.  Facilitating our interterm workshop on Thursday December 1 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM will be faculty members and librarians from Oberlin College and Miami University of Ohio.  They will share how collaboration on information literacy improves student research skills.  Bring an assignment that you would like to adapt to a more collaborative model.  Lunch will be provided.

RefWorks Training

Interterm Workshop: RefWorks is a web based bibliographic manager, similar to Pro-Cite and End-Note that will help you organize your sources and cite them properly in over 396 different styles.

On December 1, a hands-on workshop will be offered from 1:00 – 3:00 in Library 201. We will get you started and work one-on-one with you to import citations from databases and then to format them a bibliography.

Ohio Learning Network’s E 4 ME Program Receives National Award

OLN recently received the Outstanding Advising Technology Innovation Award from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) for E 4 ME: Online Orientation Course for Exploring Learners (www.e4meohio.org).

The E 4 ME program, selected as one of the five recipients of the nationwide award, was created by OLN staff and was nominated by George Steele. OLN and other award winners provide vital communication regarding advising programs at its institutions, web sites, online tutorials, software applications, databases, DVDs, and other web-based and non-web-based innovations. Each nomination was judged based on content, interactivity, clarity, and creativity.

E 4 ME is a service of the Ohio Learning Network (www.oln.org), a consortium promoting and supporting e-learning in the state of Ohio. OLN has 69 member colleges and universities and is a program of the Ohio Board of Regents. OLN helps Ohioans access higher education, helps build partnerships among higher education, schools, businesses and communities, and promotes and supports e-learning in the state of Ohio.
