Attach Item Records to Full Bib
Records - Paper
1. Make sure the record is not a serial record. If it is a serial record, we need to decide if we want to attach check in or holding instead of item record to it.
2. Log on the system
D > Catalog DATABASE maintenance
U > UPDATE existing records (after
this, type in your login and password)
B > BIBLIOGRAPHIC record
type otmp# to bring up the record
A > ATTACH a New Record
I > ITEM Record
01 > item : Item record
Put in the
itypes (078 for documents monograph,
location : otdoc for regular documents,
Change the call number tag to 086, enter and
type in the Call number (All in upper case and pay attention to the spaces)
type in the barcode
"perform duplicate check, y/n" Answer "yes"
Put 421 in icode1

Type "e" to edit the bib record. Change suppression
field from "m" to "u"
type "q" to quit

Process CIA Maps Records in OPAL
On list titled "Otterbein SLM records that didn't overlay", find records with item number 0856-A-01. The titles for these records are name of a country and the sudoc stem is PREX 3.10/4:

Answer yes to all the following questions:
Use today's date as RECEIVED date for checkin?
(y/n)
During checkin, do you want to generate claims
for late issues? (y/n)
Create item records for issues checked in?
(y/n)
Are all options as you want them? (y/n)
type t and then the title to bring up the record, if it bring up too many records by typing the title, try bring up the record by sudoc number (gsudoc#), or ooclc number.
Make sure this is a Marcive record by looking in the 040 field where it should carry MvI in it. the suppression field should either has "m" or "u" in it. Also double check the title (245 field), sudoc number (086 field), item number (074 field) to make sure it is the right record.
