The program promotes a sociologically informed understanding of self and society, assuring that graduates are well prepared to pursue their goals. Students can earn a major or minor in sociology, electing to specialize in one or more of the following areas of concentration offered:

The Department is involved in the interdisciplinary minors of Environmental Studies, Legal Studies, Women's Studies and the interdisciplinary major in International Studies. The department also provides courses for the Integrative Studies program.
