Daugherty Promise Header

Deeply grateful for the chance to attend college and deeply aware that not everyone gets that chance, Gary and Beth Daugherty have seeded the Daugherty Promise Scholarship Fund with a $25,000 gift to the Where We Stand Matters campaign. Income from the fund will eventually award scholarships to incoming English majors selected by the English Department based on writing samples and interviews, and those students can receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years – that’s the promise – if they remain English majors and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

You can expand possibility for English majors at Otterbein with a contribution, and all gifts help, no matter their size. The larger we make this endowed fund, the sooner we can begin supporting English majors and lessening their debt. The larger we make this fund, the more promising English majors we can support. Won’t you please join Dr. D. in standing up for promise? Thank you!

Professor Beth Daugherty

Professor Offers the Promise of a Quality Education

Professor Beth Daugherty comes from a long line of educators — both grandmothers and both parents went to college and became teachers. So you could say her fate, a lifetime of teaching British and American literature, was sealed early growing up in Quaker City, a small town of about 500 located in southeastern Ohio.
