Frequently Asked Questions About the Cardinal CardHow Do I Place Money Value on My Card?Your OC Cardinal Card not only stores information, it also stores MONETARY VALUE! Monetary value you can use to make purchases - same as cash! Think of the card as "electronic currency." When you use your card to make purchases, the amount is automatically deducted from the stored value in your account. The monetary value is stored directly on your card's magnetic strip. You may add value to your card at the Business Office or call them at 614-823-1150 with a credit card number. We accept cash, too. You may store up to $100 on the card for vending and laundry. You can store money on the card for bookstore purchases. Again, just talk with the Business Office. But remember, if your card is lost or stolen, you will only receive the stored value on the card at the time of notification to the Campus Center Office and the card is deactivated. You will be responsible for any transaction made on your card prior to your notification to the Campus Center Office. Where Can I Use My Cardinal Card on Campus? You also will get free theatre and artist series tickets, along with entrance into athletic events. Please carry your card with you at all times.
How Does My Cardinal Card Work? The strip can also be used to store extra money for vending (munch money) and laundry. If you have a credit balance on your student account purse, you can move the money to the bookstore or munch purse. The Business Office can place the credit on your designated purse for you to use to purchase your textbooks and supplies in the bookstore or to get munchies or do laundry. Stop by the Business Office (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) or phone 614-823-1150 for more information on this option.
What Should I Do if My Card is Lost or Stolen? Any value on the card runs the risk of being used by the finder. Report your card being lost or stolen IMMEDIATELY so your card can be deactivated. Replacement cards can be obtained in the Campus Center during business hours. A temporary card will be made available until a replacement card is made. There is a $10 replacement fee charged each time the card is replaced whether lost or stolen. Transfer of the current stored value on the card at deactivation, of $5 or more will be issued.
What if I Find Someone Else's Card? Or Someone Wants to Borrow Mine? Attempting to use the lost and/or stolen card for any purpose will be considered theft. Rights and privileges associated with the card are non-transferable. Do not lend your card to a friend or give them any numbers associated with your card. You are held accountable for all financial and business transactions conducted with your Cardinal Card.
