One of the greatest strengths of the Otterbein orientation program is our Orientation Leaders. Orientation Leaders are distinguished upper-class students who volunteer their time to prepare for and to welcome new students to campus. Having completed ten weeks of training and leadership development, these dedicated students have become a team of individuals whose sole purpose is to assist new students and their families in the transition to Otterbein.

Individually, they represent a variety of academic majors (from sports management to equine science to chemistry), hometowns (from just down the street to around the world), extracurricular interests (from athletics to Greek life to scholastic honoraries), and cultures (from ethnic backgrounds to religious beliefs to family structures).

As a team, they are a phenomenal unit who select and implement the orientation activities which are not only fun, but also helpful. Recalling their own experiences of what it was like to be a new student, they have chosen programs that will help you succeed both academically and personally and will enable you to meet other new students.

When you arrive on campus for orientation, you will join a JAM Team (Just Ask Me!) that will consist of 15-20 students and two enthusiastic orientation leaders. These orientation leaders will guide you through the schedule, share tips for succeeding at college, infuse you with energy, and give you the inside scoop (such as Otterbein's cherished tradition: the donut run!) By the end of the orientation weekend, you are certain to have met several new students who will become close friends.
