Cardinal Leadership Experience

What is the Cardinal Leadership Experience?
Otterbein College's program designed for the first year student with little or no leadership experience. The program will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about yourself and thus be better prepared for fellowship and leadership opportunities on campus and in the community.

What should I expect if I enroll?

• An introduction to transformational leadership and the basic concepts of fellowship and leadership.
• An opportunity to develop your leadership potential and skills to take on responsibilities and challenges at Otterbein College and the local community.
• The challenge to learn more about yourself and others different from you through structured exercises, lectures, informal small group discussions, and thus be better prepared to follow and lead others effectively.
• Information, insight, and support to use in choosing how you want to get involved at Otterbein College.

What should I know before I apply?

• Attendance - All participants are expected to attend every session. If a conflict arises which cannot be avoided, participants are asked to contact the program coordinator prior to the session.
• Participation - There is an opportunity for everyone to participate. The format of workshops and group discussions allows each person to make an impact on the program.
• Risk Taking - You have the opportunity to develop yourself as a leader, try new things, reach out to others, and reveal yourself to others who may not know you. Challenge yourself to attend a meeting of an organization, support a campus program, or take on a responsibility which you have never done before.
• Reflection - This is an intensive learning experience filled with a great deal of information provided in a short period of time. You are expected to devote time to reflect on the content of the program and its relationship to yourself and your experiences.

What is my motivation?
Besides gaining the knowledge and experience to become a successful leader, you will also get to know other potential leaders and make new friends.
