Jim Bowling is a Professor in Art at Otterbein University’s Department of Art and Art History teaching in the areas of ceramics and sculpture. As a contemporary artist working in clay, he is rooted in the material and craftsmanship of ceramics but focuses on conceptual approaches to explore the connection between surface and form in figure-based narrative works. Louise Captein makes abstract oil paintings and paper collages. Her works have been exhibited regionally and throughout the U.S in solo and group exhibitions and in The Netherlands. Johnson's areas of study include modern European and American art and architecture, women’s and gender studies, visual culture studies, and historic preservation. Dr. Johnson’s research focuses on the links between the artist and society, and the larger role art plays in our community. Her recent projects explore the intersections of photography and historic preservation within the creation of the modern city. Jonathan Johnson is a photographer and filmmaker whose work explores ideas about place, identity and nature. Autobiography plays a role in Johnson’s work as he often references his mixed-heritage background, travel, and backcountry exploration. Johnson collaborates with composers, writers, poets, designers and fellow artists in his artwork that takes the form of photographic prints, books, films, videos and teaching projects. Amanda Kline brings an interdisciplinary approach to her artistic practice by combining the mediums of photography, video, installation, collage, and performance.
