Jeffrey Trent, Part-Time Faculty in Chemistry, Chemistry

Jeffrey Trent

Professor Trent joined the Otterbein faculty in 2018 teaching laboratory courses in General Chemistry, as well as courses in the Nursing program. He brings 23 years of experience an Analytical Method Development Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Boehringer Ingelheim Roxane Laboratories (now Hikma Pharmaceuticals). He has applied his Akron University Chemistry B.S. degree, and M.S. Chemistry degree from The Ohio State University to industry, while sharing the love of chemistry with students with 7 years teaching experience as Chemistry Adjunct Faculty at Columbus State Community College. Informal STEM education has always been a priority, with more than 20 years sharing Chemistry with the general public through the American Chemical Society (ACS) Columbus Section Outreach Programs, National Chemistry Week, and Chemist Celebrate Earth Week. He was an ACS Volunteer of the Year honoree in 2019 and 2021 and has also taken leadership roles in ACS as Chair, Councilor, and Outreach Chair for the ACS Columbus Section. And he served as co-chair of the CERM 2020 Regional Meeting planning committee, resulting in over 600 papers submitted for this ACS Central Regional Meeting, before cancellation due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Best advice for students, “Don’t let what you can’t do get in the way of what you can” and you will find you can do even more!
