Mary Navarro recently retired from a 42 year career in banking. The past 15 years she was a Senior Executive Vice President at Huntington Bank, leading their Consumer and Business Banking Division; 8500 colleagues and 65% of the bank’s profits. She is a nationally recognized industry leader; known for developing a differentiated strategy and brand, achieving the highest customer growth rates in the country, and earning numerous customer service awards for 5 consecutive years (2012-2017).
In 2017, Mary was awarded a national Lifetime Achievement Award for Women in Banking by American Banker. She was also recognized for 8 years as one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking in the country. These awards were based on financial performance, innovation and impact on the industry and community.
Mary has also served on several nonprofit boards in the Columbus area over the past 20 years, including the Central Ohio American Red Cross, the Columbus Metropolitan Library and Recreation Unlimited. In addition, she led the Huntington Pelotonia Team for 3 years, raising $10 million for cancer research.
Mary’s son went to Otterbein for both undergrad and his MBA and she saw the impact the positive Otterbein environment had on her son. She has been on the Otterbein Board of Trustees for 5 years and currently serves on the Audit and Risk Committee.
Mary earned a Masters in Management from Aquinas College in 1984 and a B.S. in International Business from the University of Colorado in 1978.
Having lived and worked in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic for several years, she is bilingual in Spanish and connects well with various Latino cultures.
Mary lives in Columbus and on Marco Island in FL with her husband of 40 years. They have two married sons and one granddaughter, who all live in Columbus.
