Cecilia “Cissi” Hultman: Acts of Concentration & Graphite Grey Groundings

Posted Jan 18, 2022

Cecilia “Cissi” Hultman
January 11 – April 23, 2023
Public Reception: January 26, 2023 from 4p – 6p
Artist remarks will begin at 4:30p

Hultman’s practice involves a sensitive attending and responding to life and art that is distinctively poetic. With intimately small and precise drawings, sculpture, video, and minimalist acts of drawing that use her main subject—the line, Hultman will build an installation at The Frank Museum of Art. Concentrated playfulness from very simple starts suggests that drawing is more than graphite grey results. Visitors can join this unfolding and speak with the artist as she works Thursdays – Saturdays 11a – 3p from January 11–21 or by appointment. Email jglowski@otterbein.edu to schedule.

Cissi Hultman is a Sweden-based artist drawing artist working with installations as a way of composing meaningful gestures out of small scaled drawings and more or less minimalistic sculptures, often with a special focus on lines. Playfulness and presence are some important main words for her art practice. Here exhibition is part of the Otterbein and the Arts: Opening Doors to the World programming.
