Nursing Graduates Pass Rates Exceed National Averages

Posted Sep 23, 2019

The Otterbein Nursing Program has had an immense amount of success over the years. Part of their success includes licensure and certification pass rates well above the national average.

During spring 2019, for the initial RN licensure, BSN student graduates had a first time pass rate of 95%. Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) master’s program had first time pass rate of 98%.

Graduates of the Nurse Anesthesia (NA) master’s program had a first time pass rate of 90% on national certification exams.

The national pass rate for an RN licensure (NCLEX) is 89.42%, Family Nurse Practitioner national certification at 82.9%, and Nurse Anesthesia certification at 82.6%.

All of these results have exceeded the pass rates of Ohio and national averages!

Currently in Otterbein’s Nursing Graduate programs (MSN and DNP) there are 209 students enrolled. There are 202 students enrolled in the undergraduate nursing major (BSN) and 85 freshman pre-nursing majors.

This trend of success is expected to continue through Otterbein’s new Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. The new program will help expand Otterbein’s reach into healthcare by preparing providers in behavioral health.
