News - October 20, 2020
Otterbein’s Center for Student Success (CSS) and Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) have merged offices to better serve students in a holistic way. The office is now called Student Success and Career Development (SSCD).  The merger not only creates efficiencies, but also returns to a model the offices shared a decade ago. When the CSS was first established in July 2010, the office was co-located with the CCPD and found many ways to collaborate when helping students.   “There has always been an ongoing conversation about co-locating student support offices,” said Assistant…

National Transfer Week Celebrates Transfer Students and Support Systems

News - October 19, 2020
Each semester Otterbein welcomes transfer students from both four-year universities and two-year community colleges. Those students become valued and active members of our community. That’s why Otterbein will be highlighting some of our transfer students online during National Transfer Week, Oct. 19-23.   Otterbein's smooth transfer evaluation process allows students to maximize credit earned elsewhere towards a degree at Otterbein, but that is only one of many reasons transfer students are attracted to the University.  "Students transfer to Otterbein for a number of reasons: our location, small class sizes, commitment to…

News - October 13, 2020
This fall, Otterbein welcomed the first-year students of the Class of 2024, which has the distinction of being the most diverse in the university’s 173-year history. The 133 students of color and of non-Caucasian ethnicity make up nearly 27% of the class — a 98.5% increase from the 67 ethnically diverse students entering class in 2012, when current Vice President for Enrollment Management Jefferson Blackburn-Smith came to Otterbein. He says the growth is about community and not numbers.  “It’s about the environment. We want this to be a home for students, not just a place they go to school. Otterbein is, and always has…
