Associate Director of Marching Band
Department of Music

Dr. Matthew Winarski is in his first year as the Associate Director of the Otterbein Marching Band. In this role, he works with the marching band and pep band, as well as, collaborating with music faculty and admissions to increase recruitment initiatives for the marching band program. With over a decade of marching band teaching and leadership, he brings a wide depth of experience and knowledge to the Otterbein Marching Band staff. Prior to this position, Dr. Winarski served as the Assistant Director of Athletics Bands at North Dakota State University, where he worked with the Gold Star Marching Band. He has worked with both high school and collegiate marching bands across the United States, including Alexandria Area High School Marching Band (MN), the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire Blugold Marching Band and Athletic Band, and the University of Memphis “Mighty Sound of the South” Marching Band. Dr. Winarski has also worked with marching ensembles internationally, including the Banda Colegio De Bagaces in Bagaces, Costa Rica, and the Stabekk Skoles Musikkorps Smågardistene in Stabekk, Norway.
