The Frank Museum of Art is a public-facing teaching and research museum that is dedicated to global art at Otterbein University.

The Frank Museum houses Otterbein’s permanent collection of art from Africa, Japan, China, New Guinea, and other regions and features exhibitions of both contemporary and traditional art from around the world. Our exhibitions integrate across Otterbein’s curriculum, providing object-based learning for Integrative Studies, First Year Experience, History, English and Creative Writing, Art History, Art, Philosophy and Religion, Film Studies, Chemistry, and other programs. The Frank Museum also enriches Ohio’s K–12 learning through outreach and engagement programming.

Opening Doors
to the World

Otterbein & the Arts: Opening Doors to the World (ODW) is The Frank Museum of Art & Galleries’ signature contemporary arts programming and publication series. ODW was inspired by the work of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and its programming and publication series seeks to dissolve rooted patterns of “othering” and to move audiences beyond single narratives toward more nuanced understandings of peoples, cultures, and identities. Our exhibitions have featured artists and guest curators who identify as international, local, and New American creatives. ODW has received support from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the Ohio Arts Council (OAC), and private donors.
