Opening Doors to the World
Otterbein & the Arts: Opening Doors to the World (ODW) is a programming and publication series that seeks to dissolve deeply rooted patterns of “othering” and to move audiences beyond single narratives toward more nuanced understandings of peoples, cultures, and identities. ODW was inspired by the work of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and has transformed the museum’s public offerings. Our ODW exhibitions have featured artists and guest curators who identify as international (e.g., Afro-Brazilian, Malay South African, Indigenous Canadian), local (Central Ohio, Midwest), and New American (e.g., refugee, immigrant) creatives.
