“I solidified my promotional and speech writing skills, assisted in event planning for CAPA’s Broadway in Columbus Season Announcement, and copy edited promotional materials for each of the touring Broadway shows.”

The Broadway in Columbus Marketing internship at CAPA was a goal of mine since my spring semester during my first year at Otterbein. My professors instilled in me the importance of hands-on experiences and internships. My love for the performing arts, particularly musical theatre and Broadway, led me to this wonderful association, and ultimately my favorite internship experience during my time at Otterbein.

I applied to this specific internship position three times before I was hired for the spring semester of my senior year. It was the capstone experience of my pre-professional career and the job had plenty of lessons to teach me. In this role, I solidified my promotional and speech writing skills, assisted in event planning for CAPA’s Broadway in Columbus Season Announcement, and copy edited promotional materials for each of the touring Broadway shows for the 2019-2020 Broadway in Columbus Season. It helped that my boss was none other than Lisa Minken, fellow Otterbein graduate and Broadway fan girl extraordinaire. She trusted me with a lot of responsibilities that challenged me (starring in an episode of Broadway Dish, it’s on Youtube), but also improved my confidence before I entered the “real world.”

I am so grateful for my time at CAPA and am proud of myself for meeting my goal.
