“I realized I’m a lot more capable of handling a difficult project with very loose guidelines. My time at Wild Goose Creative will always be one of my favorite periods of my life.”

I had a professor who was one of the co-founders of Wild Goose Creative (WGC), which is how I found out about them. Their mission aligns with my goals in life. I want to make sure that as many people as possible have access to the arts. WGC is committed to building a creative community at the intersection of art, risk and meaning. The fact that they let artists of all kinds showcase their art in a common space is really cool to me and I wanted to help further their mission. They also have a lot regular programming where people can experience the arts.

I learned that I had a real passion for digital marketing. I had only ever handled my own social media accounts but never took charge of a professional account. I assisted in determining the best content to post to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to best reach our target audience. Reviving WGC’s Twitter presence was my own project alongside collecting analytics from all social media and analyzing the data. I realized I’m a lot more capable of handling a difficult project with very loose guidelines.

Not too long after I started, we began our yearly membership drive. Determining the best times, content, and methods of posting to social media was pretty stressful to me since it could have a direct impact in the acquisition of new members. The drive ended up being very successful.

Also, near the end of my internship, I wrote a standard operating procedure outline for how to handle all their social media accounts.

Working around people who were passionate about their work was such an enriching experience. They also would sometimes just say “Can you do this?” with loose guidelines and turn me loose to come up with something, be it content or research. I really enjoyed that they trusted me to do a good job with tasks that were new to me or doing research on unfamiliar topics. My time at Wild Goose Creative will always be one of my favorite periods of my life.
