“KPMG provided all interns with admission into Universal Studios for one evening, which allowed for great networking and the ability to connect with other interns!”

As an accounting major, we are all greatly encouraged to begin our career in public accounting as it offers phenomenal experience with the opportunity to learn and develop your professional skills every day. I knew KPMG was one of the most prestigious public accounting firms, and one of the “Big 4,” thus I was greatly interested in the ability to intern within their firm.

As a result of the strong relationships I built with my professors, I was able to get connected with the KPMG recruiter who then reached out to me. I went through a phone interview and an in-person interview and then was offered an internship position.

At KPMG, I experienced their audit division where I assisted in the process of auditing billion-dollar clients. Throughout my internship, a few of my duties and responsibilities included control testing, 10K tie out, sending external confirmations, and inventory testing. I was also responsible for communicating regularly with my manager for each client engagement as to my responsibilities for the specific audit. During my internship, I was able to effectively use the knowledge I gained in the classroom and apply it to my assigned work.

I had the opportunity to travel to Orlando, Florida, with all of the other interns for our week of National Intern Training. This experience was unforgettable as I was able to meet numerous other interns from all across the nation, expand my auditing knowledge to prepare for my upcoming assignments, and we all had the opportunity to explore Orlando during the evenings! In fact, KPMG provided all interns with admission into Universal Studios for one evening, which allowed for great networking and the ability to connect with other interns!
