OC to Begin Athletics Hall of Fame
Otterbein is accepting nominations through July 15 for the new Athletics
Hall of Fame. The first induction is scheduled for Homecoming on Oct. 18. A
nomination form can be found on the Hall of Fame Web Site.
D'Orazio Earns All-Arena Honors
Former OC quarterback Matt D'Orazio earns first team All-Arena honors
after leading the Philadelphia Soul to the top seed in the National
Conference and best record in the AFL (13-3). D’Orazio led the AFL in passer
rating (131.3) to earn his first All-Arena selection.
T&F Pair Earn Academic Honors
Otterbein track and field performers Katie Homan and Allyson Tobin earn
2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Women’s Track &
Field/Cross Country honors.
Senior Class Leaves Historic Mark
The Otterbein baseball seniors go out as the winningest class in school
history, averaging almost 31 wins each season.
Baseball Writers Select Remenowsky
Dan Remenowsky earns Great Lakes Region Pitcher of the Year honors from
the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Men's Lacrosse Coming to Otterbein
Otterbein plans to build a men's varsity lacrosse program over this coming
academic year with competition starting in spring 2010.
Mauck Garners Academic All-America
Senior third baseman Brandon Mauck, majoring in accounting, earns ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-America honors in baseball after 11 straight
appearances on the Otterbein Dean's List.
Tobin Earns All-America in the Shot
Allyson Tobin earns back-to-back All-America honors in the shot put,
finishing eighth Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and
Field Championships.
Hiscox Headlines All-Region Team
Three members of the Otterbein baseball team, led by first baseman Brian
Hiscox, a first team pick, earn Rawlings Baseball All-Mideast Region honors. Pitcher Dan
Remenowsky, second team, and outfielder Chris Kovanda, honorable mention, join
Hiscox on the Mideast teams.
OC W's Golf Finishes 5th at NCAA's
Otterbein places 5th at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships
held Tuesday through Friday at the Centennial Oaks Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa.
Catherine Brunoehler earns honorable mention All-America honors with an
8th-place finish.
Fee & Mauck Garner Clyde Lamb Award
Seniors Sara Fee, basketball, and Brandon Mauck, baseball, receive the
Clyde A. Lamb Award, given to 20 of the top senior student-athletes in the OAC,
who excel both academically and athletically.
Two Earn Academic All-District Honors
Infielder Brandon Mauck, a first team pick, and center fielder Kelsey Beers,
a second team selection, earn 2008 ESPN the
Magazine Academic All-District IV Team honors.
Three Earn All-OAC Honors in Softball
Second baseman Kendy Beers and center fielder Kelsey Beers earn second
team All-OAC honors while honorable mention honors go to third baseman Janelle
Jones.
Three Earn All-OAC Honors in W's Tennis
No. 1 singles Brittany Rings, first team, No. 2 singles Cheryl Thinnes,
second team, and No. 4 singles Lianne Simeone, honorable mention, earn All-OAC
honors.
Jeff Gibbs Makes All-Decade Team
Jeff Gibbs, who led Otterbein to a national championship in men's
basketball in 2002, is named to the D3hoops.com All-Decade team.
