Connie E. Richardson Women’s Basketball Endowment
After 28 years with Otterbein, head women’s basketball coach, Connie Richardson retired from coaching last spring to focus on a full-time administrative role within the Athletics department. Connie has given so much to Otterbein and the women’s basketball program while achieving great competitive outcomes, ranking fourth in the OAC for most coaching wins at 382, earning two OAC Coach of the Year awards, and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in 2013.
We are pleased to announce the creation of the Connie E. Richardson Women’s Basketball Endowment at Otterbein University. In order to honor her years of commitment, this fund will be used to provide additional long term operating support to the women’s basketball program. The funding will be unrestricted and can be used in any way to support the competitive experience of Otterbein’s women’s basketball student-athletes. (Please note, however, the funding cannot be used for athletic scholarships.) The fund needs an initial principal investment of $25,000 in order to begin. Following this initial investment, the basketball programs will be able to spend 4% of the principal amount each year. So, it is advantageous to grow the principal as much as possible in order to best serve the women’s basketball program.
The Otterbein Athletics Department needs your help in contributing to this fund to honor Connie and the women’s basketball program. Our goal is to raise at least $25,000 so that the fund can be available for use as soon as possible.
