The cabaret, an annual fundraiser for the NY Senior Showcase, will feature performances of the Otterbein University Acting and Musical Theatre Class of 2021.

While the performances will look a little different this year — scenes, monologues, and songs were filmed in locations as far away as Texas and with strict safety protocols in place to protect the health of all involved — Thom Christopher Warren, the cabaret’s director, says the spirit remains the same.

“We at Otterbein are sending a generation of young people out into a world with hope and optimism. What will theatre look like on the other side of COVID-19? I don’t know. But I do know that it will be re-shaped and re-defined by the artists our audience will see in this production,” Warren said.

This year’s class of 11 acting and musical theatre majors will perform pieces from their classes and stage work during their time at Otterbein.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the New York Senior Showcase, at which the students will audition for and receive feedback from some of the country’s top casting directors and talent agents. Due to the ongoing pandemic, Otterbein University has also made plans to produce a virtual showcase which can be shared with industry professionals nationwide.

Tickets cost $30 per device and tax-deductible contributions will also be accepted. An Internet connection and browser are required to stream the production. Captioning will be provided.
