Otterbein University Jazz Combo to Perform

Westerville, OH—The Neel Combo, Otterbein University’s student jazz combo, will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park Street. This event is free and open to the public.

The band consists of Otterbein students Sam Carpenter (guitar), Will Hove (guitar) and Max Sheridan (bass), and Otterbein Professor Douglas Neel (drumset). The Neel Combo will play a wide cross-section of Jazz Standards, including works by Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Duke Ellington, Grant Green, Kenny Dorham, and others. Otterbein String Orchestra to Present Scandinavian Music 

Dublin, OH—The Otterbein University String Orchestra will present “Northern Lights,” a program of Scandinavian string orchestra music, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Road, Dublin. This event is free and open to the public.  The program includes the familiar Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg and Serenade by Dag Wiren. Jean Sibelius’ beautiful Romance in C and Carl Nielsen’s Bohemian-Danish Folksong for string orchestra are lesser known, but delightful works. The humorous and imaginative Portraits of Country Fiddlers by Finish composer Pehr Henrik Nordgren rounds out the program.
