Tell us about your career journey after graduation?
After graduation from Otterbein University, I joined the Timken Senate Campaign as an intern. After the internship, I joined the Ohio Republican Party as a Field Organizer. As a Field Organizer, I was assigned to the Central Ohio Region and mainly focused on Rep. Mike Carey’s campaign during the special election of Ohio’s 15th District. Mike Carey was victorious. I joined his DC office two weeks after the election as a Staff Assistant.
How did Otterbein prepare you for your career?
Throughout my four years at Otterbein, I was able to be involved on- and off-campus with the help of faculty and staff. As a cardinal Corp leader, I led and co-led Raise Your Voice to help promote civic engagement and civil political discussion. This allowed me to better understand the issues that the community is facing and the issues my peers were facing.
What is your career advice for current students?
It’s okay to not have a plan after graduation, however once you receive that first opportunity make sure you take advantage of the situation.
What activities were you involved in as a student at Otterbein?
As a student at Otterbein, I was a member of the Student Government, Phi Delta Theta, Raise Your Voice, and a Cardinal Corp Leader.
