Former Otterbein Exchange Student Reaches Out from Ukraine

Posted Mar 09, 2022

In fall 2019, Otterbein University had the honor of hosting Anna, an exchange student from Ukraine. Anna enjoyed her time on campus, making many friends, volunteering with the Promise House, and participating in the International Student Association. She has remained in contact with people on campus.

Anna now resides outside of Kyiv. Recently, she and her mother had to leave their home to stay with relatives in a part of the country that is currently safer, but they remain in Ukraine.

As we all read the news reports and see videos of the devastation in Ukraine, one thing is clear: Ukrainians have a defiant, independent, and resilient spirit. Anna is no different.

She writes, “We are strong, we are united. I believe in Ukraine; we just need some help.”

If you would like to donate to help the people of Ukraine, many of whom are without basic necessities or are refugees in neighboring countries, Anna has provided the information below.

For credible news about what is happening in Ukraine, Anna recommends Frontier, a source of information from the military experts on the frontline; professors and social scientists from places like Harvard and Cambridge; the Ukrainian government; and intelligence representatives.
