Posted Oct 09, 2018

Westerville, OH—The Otterbein University Departments of Music and Musical Theatre will present their Fall Collage Concert: Halloween with a Dash of Hogwarts at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove Street. Tickets to this concert will be sold at the door for $15 general admission, or free for children under 12 and for students (of all institutions, including high schools) with valid ID. Ticket proceeds will benefit the Craig Johnson Fund for the Future of Music at Otterbein. There will also be an opportunity to donate to the Craig Johnson Fund at the concert, and this year, an exciting announcement about the fund will be made at the concert. New this year, a children’s carnival will take place at 1 p.m. before the concert on the patio outside of Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park Street. The carnival, led by Otterbein students, will include face painting, soccer with brooms similar to “Quidditch,” and other games. Children are also encouraged to attend the carnival and concert in costume, and compete for prizes for best Harry Potter themed costume. Prizes will be awarded at the carnival and there will be a costume parade as part of the Collage concert performance. Collage is a fast-paced showcase of the entire department featuring large and small ensembles and soloists. Some highlights include the String Orchestra performing music from the Harry Potter films, a musical number from Sweeney Todd performed by musical theatre students, and Zombie by the Cranberries as interpreted by The Anticipations, the department’s rock cover band. The talents of vocal soloists and small ensembles will have ample opportunity to take the spotlight on this program. Join us at this family event for a little Harry Potter twist in your Halloween celebrations.
