Posted Aug 13, 2026
Otterbein’s art museum and galleries will host a lineup of exciting and unique exhibitions this fall, from the emergent social artform of generative scribing to an ode to America’s 250th celebration. All exhibitions are open to the public. Details are below and online at https://www.otterbein.edu/frank-museum/.
Weight and Witness
Jack Koppert and Alex Lewis, artists
Through Sept. 26, 2026
Public Reception: Sept. 17, 4-6 p.m., artist remarks at 4:30 p.m.
Fisher Gallery, Roush Hall, 27 S. Grove St., Westerville
Weight and Witness pairs the accumulated gravity of Alex Lewis’ ceramic and assemblage sculptures with the unflinching portraiture of Jack Koppert’s oil paintings. Together, their work engenders a domestic solemnity, punctuated by moments of surprise and humor.
The Living Art of Generative Scribing
Olaf Baldini, artist
Oct. 5, 2026-April 15, 2027
Fisher Gallery, Roush Hall, 27 S. Grove St., Westerville
For a list of arts engagement activities, including seeing Baldini work in-person, see: https://www.otterbein.edu/frank-museum/current-exhibitions/
This exhibition showcases Generative Scribing, an emergent social artform, featuring the work of Berlin-based artist Olaf Baldini. Cultivated within the Presencing Institute and the Awareness-Based Systems Change movement at MIT‘s Sloan School of Management, Generative Scribing pairs deep, active listening with fluid visual art to help organizations and communities navigate complex, evolving futures. The installation features large-format paintings and drawings from global initiatives — including the GAIA Journey (COVID 2020-21) and Ubuntu Lab (2019-2026).
Celebrating 250 Years: A Journey Across America with Robert Freimark
Robert Freimar, artist
Through Dec. 4, 2026
Public Reception: Oct. 1; 4-6 p.m.
The Frank Museum of Art, Otterbein University, 39 S. Vine St., Westerville
Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the singing of the Declaration of Independence. Between 1960 and 1968, artist Robert Freimark created Fifty States, a suite of abstract, full-sheet color screen prints representing each of the fifty United States. The series was selected as the official US Bicentennial presentation at the 1976 opening of the Amerika Haus in Munich and has since been exhibited internationally.
Inside Out (Sabbatical Exhibition)
Jim Bowling, ceramic artist
Through Nov. 4, 2026
Public Reception: Sept. 3; 4-7 p.m.
Miller Gallery, Otterbein University, 33 Collegeview Road, Westerville
In this sabbatical exhibition, Jim Bowling reflects on the ways that personal, internal narratives influence external expressions. The artist explores this theme through the intimate connection between the interiors and exteriors of sculptural forms. Each narrative begins in the center of
the sculpture, at the core of each piece. The surface narratives on the exterior ‘support’ forms, which are simple figurative bases, are impacted and transformed by the internal narratives. Viewers can investigate the nuanced relationships between inner narratives and exterior expressions through this series titled Inside Out.
