Otterbein University is offering online courses for current students at a discounted rate over the extended winter break. The Cardinal+ Term is modeled after the summer session, which drew record enrollment this year.

“We have an almost two-month stretch between Thanksgiving and the start of spring semester. We had an overwhelming response to our online summer courses, so we’ve decided to offer courses at a discounted rate over the extended winter break,” said Otterbein President John Comerford.

The Cardinal+ Term will run Dec. 7-Jan. 15. The schedule is compressed, with two weeks of online classes (Dec. 7-18), followed by two weeks of self-directed work (Dec. 21-Jan. 1) and ending with two more weeks of online classes (Jan. 4-15).

The courses are offered at a discounted rate of $500 per credit hour. Many are traditional and popular undergraduate classes that fill up quickly during traditional terms.

The Cardinal+ Term courses are:

  • ACCT 3300: Accounting Information Systems
  • BIA 3600: Managing Information Technology
  • COMM 1100: Public Speaking
  • INST 2401: Life and Earth Systems
  • INST 2807: Deaf Culture
  • INST 3019: Lake Erie in Good Times and in Bad
  • LFW 1028: Zumba
  • LFW 1034: Total Body Training
  • PSYC 1000: Psychology for Non-Majors
  • SYE 4401: Social Justice, Responsibility and Change

“This is a great opportunity for students to get ahead or catch up from the comfort of your home at a discounted rate,” said Kate Lehman, assistant dean for student success. “It does require different time management skills than a typical term, so if you are wondering if the Cardinal+ Term is for you, the staff at Student Success and Professional Development is here to help you.”
