Ellie Newman ’23 joined the Events & Conferences team as the Event and Conference Coordinator in June 2026 after serving as the Coordinator of Alumni Engagement since March 2025. A proud Otterbein alumnus, Ellie graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Communication Studies and Journalism & Media Communications with a minor in Dance.

During her time as a student, Ellie was heavily involved in Otterbein’s radio station, WOBN, having her own radio showcase “An Earful of Ellie” and holding positions as the Music Director and General Manager of the station. Ellie also won several awards during her college career including the Dr. Griss Speech Communication Endowed Award, the Torch and Key Tuition Endowment Award, and received 2nd place at the Pinnacle College Media Awards. Ellie was also a member of Otterbein’s Speech Team and performed in the college production of “The Pajama Game.”

Since graduation, Ellie has showcased many of the skills she acquired at Otterbein in a variety of ways including emceeing events, teaching ballet classes, and choreographing a high school production of “The Little Mermaid.” Versatile in her talents, Ellie has also spent time working as a caregiver, preschool teacher, and education paraprofessional.

Ellie is thrilled to bring her passion for communications, media, and engagement back to her alma mater.
