Mattie Groves

Evening Shift Lead
Department of Equine Science

Evening Shift Lead, Mattie was born and raised in Columbus Ohio, graduating from Beechcroft High School in 2005. She started riding at a very young age, owning an OTTB and showing throughout her teenage years. When it came time for college, Mattie had to give up riding to afford school and focus on her studies. Mattie attended Ohio Wesleyan University as an English major. After college Mattie worked various jobs but never found satisfaction in any of them, until she came to Otterbein in 2016 and was finally able to work with the thing she had always been most passionate about horses.

While she does not currently own her own horse, she enjoys riding and spending as much times as possible with her favorite Otterpony: Viento, who she credits with helping her heart and mind heal after the death of her mother in 2017. When not at Otterbein, Mattie enjoys going on road-trips with her partner Chuck, as well as walking/hiking with her dog Watson.
