Director
Office of Social Justice & Activism

Greetings, I am Selethia and I’m extremely honored to step into my new role as the Director of Social Justice & Activism. My journey in education has been a profound one, initially serving as a principal and superintendent in the K-12 sector, where I cultivated a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

My educational path began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, complemented by a minor in Social Work from Tarleton State University. This foundation instilled in me a profound understanding of the social issues and systemic inequalities that exist. My dedication to making a difference led me to pursue a Master of Education degree in Counseling at Texas A&M University, equipping me with the essential skills to provide students with emotional and psychological support.

Furthering my academic journey, I obtained an Education Specialist degree from Capella University, enhancing my expertise in the field of education. Currently, I’m in the process of pursuing a Doctorate degree from Liberty University in Higher Education Administration, ensuring that I remain at the forefront of educational leadership.

My main focus as the Director is to support the dedicated staff and faculty at Otterbein University and to guarantee that we engage more talented individuals from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, I’m deeply committed to increasing the enrollment of students from marginalized communities, making Otterbein their home away from home. Every student should know they have access to a director whose primary goal is to support them and provide a listening ear. I look forward to working closely with the Otterbein community to foster inclusivity and empowerment for all. Together, we will create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone!
