Otterbein Equestrian Camp

The Department of Equine Science offers two distinct camp experiences for competitive equestrians. Campers will spend time both riding and sharpening their equine knowledge to include handling, equine nutrition, braiding, equine first aid, equine anatomy, and so much more.

Which camp is right for you?

IEA Week: Students that participate on an Interscholastic Equestrian Association team. Riders will need to identify their team and level upon registration. Campers must be between the ages of 9-17 years old.

Collegiate Week: This overnight camp is designed for college bound equestrians. Campers must be rising high school sophomore, junior or senior students.

Beginning the summer of 2026, Otterbein equestrian camps will no longer accommodate beginner riders. No beginner weeks will be offered. All riders must be currently in a riding lesson program or competing on an IEA team. Questions regarding levels or suitability for an Otterbein camp can be directed to Kari Briggs (kbriggs@otterbein.edu)

Schedule for IEA Summer Camps:

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please bring a sack lunch and snacks each day.

On Friday, riders will demonstrate skills they learned during the week with a fun show for families starting promptly at 2:00 pm. At the conclusion of the show, families will be invited into the barn to meet the horses and see the facility. Campers will leave with their families between approximately 2:30 -3:00 pm.

Items to bring each day

Sack lunch, water bottle, snack, sunscreen, change of clothes (shorts are fine), hair ties for long hair, small personal hand sanitizer, riding boots, riding helmet, English riding breeches or jodhpurs.

Otterbein University reserves the right to accept or reject any application or registration and expel any student whose conduct is detrimental to the other students, according to the camp directors’ judgment. Otterbein reserves the right to cancel a camp due to insufficient enrollment or just cause. Please note that Otterbein’s camp staff may not be able to accommodate riders with special needs.
