On Tuesday, Nov. 19, former Otterbein President Kathy Krendl was honored with the unveiling of The Krendl, the official name of the main walkway and meeting area of The Point at Otterbein University.

“The Point is the perfect window into Otterbein’s story and The Krendl will be the place that links it all,” said Otterbein Board of Trustees Chairman Mark Thresher. “This honor will ensure that future generations of students, business partners and educators will know the name of the leader who believed that all of this was possible.”

Otterbein President John Comerford added that the space chosen for The Krendl is a perfect reflection of President Krendl’s vision for the University’s future.

“This space in particular is the hub of the building. There is no one owner. It’s flexible and totally collaborative. The Point has lots of cool stuff, but this spot tells the story best. Kathy’s legacy is one of partnerships: how Otterbein is leading now and into the future for students and higher education,” President Comerford said.

The naming ceremony coincided with The Kathy A. Krendl Distinguished Lecture Series at Otterbein University’s inaugural lecture by Anita Perez Ferguson, former president of the National Women’s Political Caucus.

Honoring the legacy of Otterbein’s 20th president, the Kathy A. Krendl Distinguished Lecture Series connects prominent thought leaders with our campus and our community. To advance president Krendl’s legacy, the series will host compelling and thought-provoking scholars, dignitaries, business visionaries, and others who impact the areas of innovation, leadership and collaboration. The series will welcome diverse outlooks that prompt dialogue, advance opportunity and inclusion, spark innovation and foster the pace-setting initiatives that distinguish Otterbein’s past, present, and future.
