Internships
Otterbein’s location in Westerville, Ohio, just 15 minutes from the state’s capital, Columbus, gives you convenient access to hundreds of employers and a diverse range of internship opportunities. Otterbein engineering students have had internships at some of the country’s largest and most respected companies, including Honda and Nestle PTC, as well as locally-based companies such as Worthington Industries, LakeShore Cryotronics, and Nikola Labs. Students have also been hired as interns as early as the summer after their freshman year at Otterbein, which is not common amongst students who attend other engineering schools, and speaks to the valuable and practical experiences students gain, even within their first year at Otterbein.
Careers
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2016), there will be 66,000 more engineering jobs that need to be filled in the fields of mechanical, industrial, and electrical engineering between 2016 and 2026. By attending Otterbein, students will be technically competent given their broad training and well-prepared to fill these positions. Companies that our 2019 graduating class will be working for include Honda, Nestle, and Williams-Sonoma.
In addition to industry, students have also chosen to attend graduate school, pursuing higher level degrees in engineering or in other fields such as law.
