Edgar Allan “Poe-try” Reading Event
Posted Oct 14, 2025

Celebrate Spooky Season with one of our favorite spooky “Poe-ts” – Edgar Allan Poe! Sign up to read one of his works or support your fellow October and “Poe-try” enthusiasts as an audience member. Read as dramatically, or as morosely, as you want. No talent for poetry is needed here – just the joy of being possessed by the spirit of Poe himself. We will have our Cafe Cart available with snacks and hot beverage options. Finally, decorate one of our recycled catalog cards and become an accomplice as we bury Fortunato alive brick by agonizing brick! (No real Fortunato’s were harmed in the making of this activity). Check out our Poe Collection Display on the 1st floor while you’re at it! All materials in the display are available for check-out.

The event will take place on Tuesday, October 21st from 4-6pm in Library Room 118. The reading will take place from 4:30-5:30pm but the refreshments and Fortunato activity will be available the entirety of the two-hour event. Walk-ins are welcome but sign-up in advance to secure your reading spot! Please be “around and ready” to read when your name is called. Stay spooky, friends!
