From the Artist:

“The Flow is a visual representation of how I feel about my creative process. Before graduating, I felt like there was this constant pressure to create and there were always people to feed off of, sources of inspiration everywhere. Once I graduated, it felt like that flow of creative energy had been cut off. I’ve gone through long periods where I’ve felt only a trickle of creative energy. During these times, I often feel at my lowest, not sure what I am doing. I notice the flow of energy returning as I talk to the friends I’ve made in creative communities, and when I take in the art around me. Architecture, murals, shows, and books are some of the things that turn that trickle of energy into a flow that helps me restart the creative process. This slow flow moment is something I have heard more-experienced artists talk about but didn’t quite understand until I experienced it myself. It is important to have inspiration, art and other artists, that turn up the flow of energy and help with the process of creativity. I am an Otterbein alumna who graduated in 2021 with a degree in graphic design and drawing. While studying, I became incredibly interested in all of the different forms of printmaking and ended up falling in love with the process. Currently, I work as an apparel printmaker at Rising Moon, a local shop in Westerville, and I’m working on getting my own personal art out there.”
