Posted Oct 19, 2023
The Friends of Otterbein University’s Courtright Memorial Library are pleased to host this year’s Common Book author, Abdi Nor Iftin, on Monday, October 23rd for a moderated Q&A. This event is free and open to the public. The program will begin at 7:30pm on the second floor of the library. Dr. Colette Masterson, Associate Director of New Student Transitions, will moderate the Q&A. The Q&A will be followed by the author portrait reveal, book signing, and a reception.
If you would like more information about this year’s Common Book, you can visit the library’s Common Book libguide.
Abdi Nor Iftin, who wrote Call Me American, will be visiting campus on Monday and Tuesday to meet with students and discuss his experiences and his book; the Common Book Convocation will be on Tuesday, October 24th at 3pm in Cowan Hall.
The Common Book program began in 1995, thanks to the generosity of Miss Mary B. Thomas, class of 1928. The purpose of the program is to stimulate campus discussion of a significant contemporary work of literature and to enhance our sense of intellectual community. We are grateful for the support of Beth and Gary Daugherty for their gift to the Thomas Endowment.
