Otterbein Alumni Marched Into History at the Rose Bowl Parade

By: Catie Duzzny ’21, MBA ’23  In this year’s 2022 Rose Bowl Tournament of Roses Parade, a float featuring marching band directors had a special connection to Otterbein. The float is dedicated to alumnus Mike Sewell ’79, and his widow, Karen Freeman Sewell ’79, and three other Otterbein alumni participated in the parade.  Mike Sewell, a long-time band director, dedicated his life to the school and community music programs in Pickerington, Ohio, and the central Ohio area for more than 38 years. After Mike passed in 2017, his widow, Karen, started the Mike D. Sewell Foundation to enhance, support, and assist the arts around Pickerington and central Ohio.  Mike took his bands multiple times to the Rose Parade and the Macy’s…

Otterbein’s Office of Social Justice and Activism Partners with Athletics to Advocate for Change

By Bridget Oder ’23 Otterbein’s Office of Social Justice and Activism has created a new partnership with the Athletics Department to advocate for change on campus. Otterbein Conservation Biology and Conservation Psychology Collaborate in Tree-Tag Project

Otterbein Juried Art Exhibition Gives High Schoolers Platform to Learn the Industry, Earn Scholarships

Otterbein University is giving young artists the opportunity to showcase their art to a broad audience in a professional setting.   The Third Annual Juried High School Art Exhibition will be on display until Dec. 10 in the Miller Gallery, located in the Art and Communications Building at 33 Collegeview Road, Westerville.  This exhibition supports and promotes young artists in Ohio. Otterbein Environmental Health and Safety Senior Turns Internship into Full-Time Offer

Recent Otterbein Graduate Making His Way in The Golf Industry

By Catie Duzzny ’21, MBA’23  Lucas Fox graduated from Otterbein University in May 2021 with a degree in sport management, a minor in business administration, and all the tools needed to start his career in the sports industry.   Fox was a student athlete for four years, playing on Otterbein’s men’s golf team.
