Award presented: September 26, 2020
Upon graduating from Otterbein in 2010, Andrea immediately began pursuing her passion for healthcare and cardiology when she joined the staff at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s as a staff nurse. She quickly rose into leadership role as a charge nurse and then as a Clinical Nurse Manager with the Vascular/Renal Intermediate Care unit at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s. In that role she created and managed the staff schedule, assisted with quality and safety initiatives, and resolved patient/family complaints. Andrea is a self-described perpetual student; she seeks out ways to continually develop herself as a professional. While working in the Mt. Carmel Health System, Andrea completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing Administration. Today, Andrea is the Quality Business Partner for Mt. Carmel East and a new mother. Andrea is also proud to serve as a phenomenal resource for current nursing students at Otterbein. She has hosted or matched students with healthcare professionals for job shadowing purposes, attended networking events, and provided advice to Otterbein nursing students. She has served on the Young Alumni Board and Greek Alumni Council. In Spring 2015, as Alumni Board President for Tau Delta she voiced support for making Tau Delta a gender-neutral chapter, the first on campus and among the first in the nation to adopt a more inclusive membership policy. Andrea is proud to be ensuring quality services in the healthcare industry while also still giving back to Otterbein.
