Award presented: September 26, 2020

With a focus on improvements, Jeremy Young has had a meteoric rise at SCI Engineered Materials, a company which supplies advanced materials for many industries, including automotive, solar coating, defense and aerospace. His career with SCI began in 2006 as a Production Manager where he focused his efforts on increasing on-time deliveries from 69% to 92.7% in just three years ‘time. Hard work, dedication and a proven record of success catapaulted him from Production Manager to Operations Manager to Vice President of Operations, all while he was working on his MBA…but he wasn’t done there. After helping the company realize unprecedented financial growth over a two-year period taking annual earnings from $5.5 million to $11.4 million, while also growing new customers by 25% through marketing efforts and an upgraded digital presence, the board recognized Jeremy’s contributions, naming him President and CEO. Under his direction, SCI was recognized by Columbus Business First as the Fastest-Growing Central Ohio Public Company in June 2019. Even with an intense focus on his career, Jeremy has managed to find ways to give back to Otterbein. On campus, he’s participated in Chemistry alumni panel discussions and he’s guest lectured Engineering classes at The Point. Having experienced an internship as an undergrad, Jeremy recognizes the importance these professional opportunities can have on careers. Believing so much in the power of these experiences, he’s encouraged several Otterbein students to complete internships at SCI Engineered Materials. Jeremy’s drive, determination, and commitment to excellence have helped him advance his career with SCI Engineered Materials and we know that he will go far in the years ahead.
