Allen Myers, Class of 1967

Allen Myers ’67 died Nov. 26, 2020. He was born on March 3, 1945, to Harold and Marie Myers in Cleveland, OH. Allen grew up in Parma, OH, attended Otterbein University, United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH), and graduate school at the University of Michigan. While at Otterbein he was involved in the band, student government, WOBN radio, Sibyl, Quiz & Quill, Tan & Cardinal.
After completing his course work, he took a temporary position at Eerdmans Publishing Company in Grand Rapids. Forty years later he retired from Eerdmans as a senior Biblical Studies editor. Allen enjoyed time with his family, traveling, reading, watching sports, and puttering in his yard. Allen and Janice are longtime members of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Allen was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Marie Myers, Dick and Grace Niemeyer, and Herman Scholten. He is survived by his wife Janice, his children Kristen (Jeremy) Gifford, Michael (Stephanie) Myers, Rebecca (Christopher) Mortensen, and grandchildren Damien “JD”, Marcus, Patrick, Connor, and Brendan. Other family members include Helen Scholten, Linda (Jim) Morrow, Carole (Arend) Vander Pols, Jon (Pam) Meyer, Nick (Christina) Morrow, and Will Vander Pols.
