Annette Smith Williams ’72, P’72 died August 15, 2022. She was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Waterville, Maine to the late Frederick and Alice (Rowe) Smith. Her father was a Methodist minister and the Superintendent of the Maine Christian Civic League. Ann attended Syracuse University where she met her husband, Elwyn Williams. He was a returning World War II veteran. She attended Syracuse for two years before they got married.

Ann spent the next 20 years as the wife of a Methodist minister in New York, Virginia and Indiana. Elwyn then began doing college development work in Illinois, Ohio, Oregon and Florida.
While in Ohio, Ann finished her bachelor’s degree at Otterbein College, graduating in 1972 along with her daughter and son-in-law. She was very proud to earn her master’s degree in Textiles and Clothing from The Ohio State University a few years later.

Along with her parents, husband, her twin sister, Nannette, and her brother, Eric, preceded her in death.
Ann is survived by her four children and their spouses, Gail ’72 and David Bloom ’72, Mark, Tom and Roxann, and Rob and Gail; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. After her twin sister died in 1993, she became a second mother to Nan’s daughter, Susan Traylor.
