David Holl ’66 died Sept. 23, 2021. He was born on Nov. 23, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Carl and Helen (Guthrie) Holl. David graduated from John Marshall High School where he was Drum Major his senior year, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Otterbein in Mathematics and Education. During his time at Otterbein, David was a member of Lambda Gamma Epsilon (Kings) fraternity. He then attended Ashland University where he earned his Master’s Degree in Math.

David taught math at Thomas Worthington High School, Worthington, OH from 1966 until his retirement in 1994 and then at Otterbein University from 1996 through 2006. For many years he participated with Worthington Field Studies, was an avid hunter (a moose hangs over his living room fireplace) and fisherman, as well as a gourmet cook. In his “spare time” David tended his beehives and encouraged others in beekeeping. Ever the perpetual student, he dazzled people with his diverse knowledge. A member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church, his heart belonged to the people there.

David is survived by his wife Alma (Gemeinhart) Holl; brother Robert Holl; daughter Beth (James) Peifer; son John (Amanda ’01) Nash ’00; grandchildren Allyson (Tony) Caldwell, Chloe, Anya, Camden, and Asa Peifer, and Ruby, Grayson, and Grant Nash; and great-granddaughter, Lenora Caldwell, as well as numerous other relatives.
