David Slater ’71 died Oct. 21, 2021. David was born on August 15, 1949, in Dover. He was the son of the late Blaine and Ruth (Linard) Slater. He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School with the class of 1967. David later graduated from Otterbein College where he was in the Zeta Phi (Zeta) fraternity. David retired after 30 years from the State of Ohio Adult Parole Authority and was the Parole supervisor upon retirement.

He was a lifelong member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and was the former president of the Tuscarawas County United Methodist Men. He was also president of the Tuscarawas County Church Dartball League for many years. David was an avid golfer, and Cleveland sports fan, especially the Indians. He also loved gardening. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events.

In addition to his wife, Ali Pretzeus Slater, he is survived by his children; Michele (Andrew) Rennicker, Matthew (Deloris) Burris, seven grandchildren, Brianna (Greg) Regoli, Alexis Burris, Lauren Rennicker, Tori Burris, Nicolas Burris, Emma Rennicker, and Natalie Rennicker; along with a great-grandson, Sutton Regoli.
