Ellen Coleman Peters, Class of 1950

Ellen Coleman Peters ’50 died Aug. 23, 2018. She was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Forrest and Fanny Coleman on Sept. 16, 1928. She graduated Otterbein University in 1950 with a bachelor’s of science in elementary education. During her time at Otterbein Ellen was involved in choir and Women’s Student Government Board, and a member of the Epsilon Kappa Tau sorority.
Over the course of the next three decades she taught children in school districts in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.
Ellen is survived by four children, daughters Denise Harter and Susan Kelly; and sons, Dan Peters and John Peters; 6 grandchildren; sister Grace Baumble, and several nieces and nephews, including Paul Miller ’74, Peter Miller ’75, Dr. Lynn Corbin ’75, and Carol Wilcox ’77.
She was preceded in death by husband Calvin Peters ’51; sisters Jane Anders and Fran Baumble ’48; nephew, Rafe Anders; and great granddaughter, Elizabeth Lomas.
