Helene ‘Mike’ Miller ‘53 died March 9, 2021. Mike was born in Johnstown, PA to Burton and Mildred Barnhart Miller on April 4, 1931. She graduated from Johnstown High School before attending Otterbein University, where she was a member of Epsilon Kappa Tau sorority and earned a degree in Physical Therapy. After college, Mike moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she began her career at Rainbow Children’s Hospital. The physical therapy discipline and medical field were lifelong interests that engaged her throughout her days.
Mike Miller met William ‘Bill’ Miller, a WWII B-17 bomber pilot, on one of those rare blind dates that takes, and they married in Johnstown, PA in 1954. They began their life together in Cleveland, OH, added three children, moved to Chicago, IL and finally settled in St. Louis, MO.
Mike is survived by her son and his wife, Jeff and Janet Miller; son Rob Miller; daughter and her husband Jody and John McNamee; grandchildren Andrew, Catherine and Julia Miller; and grandsons Jack and Joe McNamee.
In addition to her parents, Mike was preceded in death by her husband William Rudolph Miller and her sister Patricia Helsinger ’50.
