Jack Gempel, Class of 1967

Jack Gempel ’67 died March 30, 2022. Jack was born October 12, 1934, to the late Julius and Catherine Gempel.
Jack is an Air Force veteran from the Korean War Era. After his military service he went on to graduate from Otterbein University with a BSC in Math and Physics. Jack went on to work for AT&T as an engineer, during which time he earned his MBA from the University of Dayton. He retired from AT&T in 1989 after 32 years of dedicated service. He then went on to work for Athena Travel Agency for another 4 years in Bexley.
He enjoyed camping, boating, waterskiing and loved cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nan; sons, David and Douglas Gempel; daughter, Susan Rees. Jack is also survived by his brother, Thomas Gempel; sisters-in-law, Irene Goodrich; brother-in-law, Jack Surratt. Jack proudly leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
